Switch Utility Location is first, and foremost a utility locating company.  With experience in the industry dating back to the 1990's we have a vast knowledge of the history of the underground infrastructure across many industries.  We take pride in the knowledge we have obtained and continue to grow as we strive to provide a quality utility locate for any project.  With our field experience, in-house training, and use of modern locating equipment we will continue to provide accurate and quality locating for years to come.

    We implement current AER pipeline and well plats, facility maps, survey plans, and in-house utility locate records to ensure all registered lines are identified and accounted for.  Crews are trained to complete a locate project to comply with regulations pertaining to ground disturbance.  All crews are trained in the procedures to complete proper grid scans of the work area, and have the experience required to conductively locate and problem solve even the most congested of work areas.  Upon completion of a project, a package is provided including at the minimum a digital field drawing, AER printout (if applicable), hazard assessment, and ground disturbance checklist.  Additional or customized documentation can be included upon request. UAV (Drone) imagery can be included, but is dependent on weather and permitting/ accessibility.

Sign/ Post Installation:

    Sign installation can be taken for granted.  All you have to do is pound a post in the ground and hang a sign, right!  Well, this may be the case but what people tend to forget is that with the increasing amount of underground infrastructure there is a good chance that your sign post could hit a shallow utility.  Increasingly, there are power & communication cables that are being buried in close proximity to fence lines, etc. due to the the limited access in ROW's and easements.  Many of these utilities are private fiber optics cables which are not cheap to repair/ replace!!! 

    We have the ability to handle all of your sign installation requirements.  From the placing of the 1 call , to the locating of utilities in the work area, and finally to the install of the sign.  Pictures with GPS co-ordinates can also be provided to show the install.  

Incident Investigations:

    Incidents are never a good thing, but unfortunately they do happen.  Whether it is a simple error in judgement or a complete lack of competence, all incidents must be investigated to determine a root cause.  Utility locating will never be an exact science and is solely based on the interpretation of the equipment used.  At times, this can be an extremely challenging task to accomplish with 100% effectiveness.  If an incident does occur, we at Switch have the expertise on staff to complete a full investigation from start of locate project through to remediation efforts.  If an incident were to occur on our projects, then an investigation would be conducted immediately and at no charge to the client.  If an incident occurs and an outside (3rd Party) investigation is required, we can provide this service for a fee.
